At a total cost of well over half a million dollars, Poker Room has put together, a team of top 19 players slated to compete in the World Poker Tour World Championships that are upcoming.
The championship starts at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, today (April 18) and will continue until April 24.
Each Poker Room’s team spot is said to be worth $27,900. This value includes accommodations and travel expenses along with the $25,000 tournament buy-in. This team has been chosen out of a group that exceeds more than 100 poker players representing PokerRoom.com in a number of the most influential poker tournaments in the world. At major land-based events, through online qualifying tournaments, members compete for the available spots.
Team Poker Room members consist of a varied group of players, taken as a whole, ranging from a sports clothing sales agent from Texas to an investment banking analyst from California, named Jim Davenport, who in early March, 2018, procured a special PokerRoom.com endorsement deal.
Davenport was given an endorsement package valuing $250,000. This includes his travel expenses as well as buy-ins at at least 12 major poker tournaments. He did this by his winning “Become a Poker Pro”, the inaugural PokerRoom.com event.
Poker Room. spokesman Glenn Cademartori is reported as saying that Team PokerRoom is as much about the competition and gaining a seat to play in the major tournaments like the WPT World Championship, as it is about the camaraderie among the players and enthusiasm for the game.
He goes on to say that Team Poker Room makes a forum available for all kinds of players who may learn from one another as they are developing their unique individual skills that they will need to succeed, enjoy, and compete while playing poker.
