This coming Easter weekend, 350 of the world’s finest poker players will be descending on Ottawa to attempt to attain a seat at the Paddy Power Poker Canadian Open 2006 Poker Tournament final table.
Those of us who are couch poker players will not be left out of the action since it is being televised live on Sky Sports 2, all across Europe, on Monday 17 May at 9.30pm (Easter Monday).
This television coverage is said to be the first of its kind coming from Canada. It will be televised at a top secret location in Ottawa before a select VIP audience. The final 6 winning players will be competing for their share of a Euro 1 million guaranteed pot that will also include Euro 50 000 which is being added by the sponsor.
Altogether in access of 10 000 players have tried to qualify online for a seat. Added to this are the thousands more who competed in live satellite competitions in Canada. Some of the biggest names in US and European poker will be joining the Internet and satellite qualifiers for the final day of competition.
